TITLE: Project Coordinator - Strengthening Lab Transport Systems for Epidemic Preparedness & Response
REPORTS TO: Technical Project Lead
LOCATION: Dar es Salaam
Position Overview:
The Project Coordinator will manage and execute daily implementation of tasks and coordinate various project activities. She/He will work closely under the guidance of the Technical Project Lead to ensure that all project objectives are met efficiently and effectively. The project coordinator's role includes overseeing the implementation of activities to strengthen the country’s capacity to prevent, detect, report, and respond to public health threats (outbreaks). She/He will ensure patients’ samples have a quick and reliable way to reach labs, especially from hard-to-reach communities. Additionally, she/he will perform any other duties as assigned by her supervisor, contributing to the project's overall success.
Key Responsibilities:
· Coordinate Strengthening Lab Transport Systems for Epidemic Preparedness & Response project activities to ensure successful implementation and alignment with project goals and timelines.
· Planning and Coordinate trainings to regional/district/health facility surveillance focal persons on outbreak response and Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPDs) surveillance.
· Facilitate surveillance focal persons to conduct VPDs active case search to priority facilities.
· Planning meetings and organizing project logistics
· Coordinate orientation meetings with community health workers on surveillance and outbreak preparedness and response.
· Assess project progress, address issues, and prepare detailed reports for stakeholders.
· Coordinate sensitization meetings with community gatekeepers and influential leaders on VPD surveillance.
· Work with the national Afya health hotline (call centre) to develop a manual/guide for hotline workers and coordinate training for Afya call centre operators on disease surveillance and response.
· Support data collection, reporting, and analysis for accurate and timely reporting.
· Manage distribution of procured supplies and equipment for project activities.
· Conduct regular field visits to healthcare facilities and community sites to support project implementation.
· Maintain project documentation by creating and updating work plans and reports.
· Coordinate quarterly regional data review meetings with HCWs, R/CHMT, and the Immunization Vaccine Development program team to monitor the progress of priority indicators and develop mitigation plans.
· Prepare and record documentation on activities relating to emergency preparedness and response.
· Participate in TWG meetings and other governance structures to ensure there is a coordinated action plan
· Perform any other additional tasks related to his/her area of work as requested.
